We’ve been producing our Michigan genotype grasses for more than 10 years. All are grown locally and managed ecologically through fire and responsible harvesting, and cleaned in our processing facility in Kalamazoo, MI. We hand collected the source seed from remnant sites throughout southern Michigan or sourced plants from other trusted nurseries. For more of our history, check out “Our Roots“.
We also have local collections of many other grasses, sedges, and wildflowers from southern Michigan. In our production fields we planted several new plots of sedges and wildflowers, in addition to increasing some of our key grasses. We are excited to get more species into production and plan to increase diversity and capacity each year. We continue to increase our field sizes in order to accommodate some new species plots.
Our seed is tested by independent labs for purity and germination and is always sold by Pure Live Seed (PLS) percentage, ensuring you get exactly what you’re expecting.
Though we offer so many more species (both Michigan and regional genotypes) the following are what we are currently able to offer as individually priced species. If you are looking for any particular species, do not hesitate to contact us for a custom quote.
